Tasked with creating packaging for an object that can be reused with said object to promote sustainability and limited waste. My product is a DIY crochet shark kit, where the box unfolds into an underwater scene playmat. The back side of the label around the box additionally doubles as the crochet pattern and there are friendly creatures that can be punched out and played with.
Re-Use Packaging Design
The hand-painted wooden box was laser cut using a dieline I created to fit together like a puzzle. To minimize waste, the label that wraps around the box is perforated around the sea creatures so you can punch them out and play with them on the mat alongside your crocheted shark!

Playful and fun design choices were made to speak to the intended audience, mostly children and youth. To convey these choices, I opted for a rounded, “chewy” looking typeface for the brand’s logo. I additionally used bright, eye-catching colors that spoke to the brand’s bubbly personality.
